Karaj only works if the quotes are real and the businesses behind them are real. Here is exactly what we check, what we hide, and - just as importantly - what we do not do.
01
Signing up is not the same as being approved.
A workshop registers, then submits its details for review: the business name, its UAE trade licence number, and supporting documents. Until a Karaj admin approves it, the account sits in a pending state.
A pending workshop cannot send you a quote. The refusal is in the database, not in the app: the rule that decides who may quote checks approval every time, so there is no version of the screen that gets around it.
It can browse requests while it waits, which is deliberate - a workshop that can see real work is a workshop with a reason to finish its paperwork. Browsing shows the vehicle and the problem. It never shows your name, your number or your address; those go to one workshop only, at the moment you accept.
02
This is the part most marketplaces ask you to take on trust.
The verified badge, the rating, the job count and the response statistics are not fields a workshop can edit. A database trigger reverts them on every write that does not come from Karaj itself - so a workshop editing its own profile cannot grant itself a badge, inflate its rating, or manufacture a track record.
The same applies to the numbers behind the badges. Quotes sent, jobs won and reply times are counted by the system when those things actually happen, and a workshop cannot write to them.
03
No calls you did not ask for.
Workshops quote from the vehicle, the problem you describe and any photos you add. Your name, phone number and address are not attached to the request, and they are not something a workshop can look up.
Your details are released to exactly one workshop - the one whose quote you accept - at the moment you accept it. Everyone else who quoted never receives them.
04
We never hold your money, because we never take any.
Comparing quotes is free, and accepting one costs nothing. Karaj does not take a booking fee, a deposit, or a commission from the repair. You pay the workshop directly, on their terms, exactly as you would if you had walked in.
That is a deliberate design choice rather than a missing feature. Money moving through an introduction service is what turns a disagreement about a repair into a dispute with a third party who was never in the workshop.
05
The honest limits, stated plainly.
Describe the problem once. Approved workshops near you send itemised quotes - parts, labour, warranty and VAT - and you choose.
